Daily Facial Reset

My kids left for school over 30 minutes ago, but if you saw my face now, you’d think they were still here – getting dressed at a snail’s pace, wiping their pancake-greasy hands on everything, and losing their shoes (again!). The rush and frustration left a mammoth-sized sticky footprint on my face.


Emotions are a significant part of my work because they go hand-in-hand with wrinkles. Whether positive or negative, emotions tend to linger on our faces long after the trigger has passed. Over time, this can lead to what’s commonly known as Resting Bitch Face. If left unchecked, these emotional residues can deepen expression wrinkles like 11s and nasolabial folds.


The Solution: Facial Reset

Zuza Facial Fitness is based on my expertise as a fitness trainer with a sports science education. I focus on the facial muscles because they are the key players in displaying emotions on our faces. What is Facial Reset?

Facial Reset involves finding quick and practical ways to transition your face out of daily stressors. Like a relaxing full-face massage? Oh, that would definitely do the job! But it has to something practical, quick, and easy that you can do on the go. This is crucial because most facial damage happens during our daily activities, so our prevention efforts should be focused there.

 

How Does Facial Reset Work?

You let your emotions show on your face as usual – smile, frown, and contort your face during exercises. But when you’re not actively expressing emotions, your resting face should be relaxed. To achieve this, regularly check on your face: Is it in a neutral state? If not, quickly relax your facial muscles to sweep away emotional remnants. As crazy as it may sound, keep a mirror handy to check your face, and set hourly (or more frequent) reminders to reset.

 

Is It Obsessive?

An hourly reminder to relax your face might sound excessive. But is it really crazier than injecting your face with toxins or undergoing surgery? It’s debatable. Eventually, Facial Reset will become second nature, and you won’t need to focus on it as much. You’ll do it automatically.


Whether you find this idea outlandish or acceptable depends on your commitment to achieving a smooth face naturally. Even if it seems ludicrous, give it a try before dismissing it. Try it for just half a day or even an hour. It’s quite easy, and if done consistently for two weeks, you’ll notice a significant difference. This practice will greatly support your facial exercise efforts.
